Rug Cleaning in Williamsburg
Williamsburg is our neighbor; our workshop is just over the border in Greenpoint. The rugs here are a mix of modern hand-knotted designs, vintage finds and a great many Moroccan rugs, in new condos and converted industrial lofts alike.
Beni Ourain and other shag rugs
Moroccan Beni Ourain rugs, with their deep ivory pile and dark lines, are among the most popular rugs we clean, and among the most demanding. The long, dense wool traps a lot of soil and holds a lot of water. They need thorough dusting, a full wash and, above all, long, well-ventilated drying so the pile dries to the base. Rushed drying is what causes odor and yellowing. We give them the time they need.
How pickup works in Williamsburg
New-construction buildings usually have a concierge desk and a package or delivery process; let us know what your building requires and we will follow it. Converted lofts often have freight elevators with set hours. Because we are close, short-notice scheduling is often possible.
Modern and vintage together
Alongside Moroccan pieces we see modern hand-knotted rugs in plain colors, vintage Turkish rugs found at markets, and kilims. Vintage finds are worth a close look: older repairs, unstable dyes and hidden moth damage are common, and we will tell you what we see before cleaning.
A workshop around the corner
Being this close means a rug can move between your home and our workshop without a long trip across the city. If you are unsure whether a rug needs a wash or a repair, we can look at it at pickup and explain what we see. If you have a few rugs and only want to start with one, that is fine too. Light-colored wool rugs and shag pieces are best washed every one to two years so soil never settles deep into the pile.
