Cleaning, restoration and care

Most rugs come to us for a wash. Many also need a little restoration. We do both under one roof.

  • “EXCELLENT experience with The Local Carpet Cleaners. They were fantastic. Garan was my point person...he was extremely professional, so easy to work with, so knowledgeable. Garan really listened to my concerns. They did a beautiful job repairing the fringes on my antique rug, and they washed it too. The price was extremely reasonable. Why The Local Carpet Cleaners

A craftsman’s workshop, not a cleaning route

Hand-knotted Persian rugs rolled side by side in our Brooklyn workshop, with scissors and thread for finishing
  • Our own workshop

Every rug is cleaned and restored in our Brooklyn workshop, not passed to a third party.

  • Restoration under one roof

Cleaning, fringe, binding, re-weaving and color work happen in the same workshop.

  • Method chosen per rug

Fibers and dyes are tested first, so each rug is cleaned in the way it can safely take.

Collection and return across NYC are included, with careful wrapping both ways.

  • Honest assessments

We tell you what a wash or repair can realistically achieve before any work begins.

  • Gentle, non-toxic solutions

Nothing harsh is left in the pile, which matters in homes with children and pets.

FAQ

Common questions

Which areas do you serve?

We collect and return rugs across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Long Island and Nassau County. Every rug is cleaned and restored at our workshop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Is pickup and delivery really free?

Yes. Pickup and delivery are included across NYC. We roll and wrap your rug in your home and bring it back clean, dry and ready to lay.

Are your cleaning methods safe for children and pets?

We use gentle, non-toxic solutions chosen for each rug's fibers and dyes. Nothing harsh is left behind in the pile.

How often should a fine rug be cleaned?

Most rugs benefit from a full wash every one to two years. Rugs in busy rooms or homes with pets may need it every six to twelve months.

How long does it take?

Most rugs are back in your home within about a week. Rugs that need drying time, repairs or color work can take longer, and we will give you a clear timeline after inspection.

Do you clean silk and antique rugs?

Yes. Silk, antique and hand-knotted rugs are the core of our work. Each is inspected first, and the method is chosen for its fibers, dyes and condition.
