About us
A family workshop for fine rugs
The Local Carpet Cleaners is a family-owned rug cleaning and restoration workshop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We care for rugs in homes across Manhattan, Brooklyn and the rest of New York City.
A good rug is rarely just a floor covering. It may be an heirloom, a piece bought on travels, or the anchor of a room. We treat each one accordingly, whether it is an antique Persian or a contemporary hand-knotted piece.
Our craft
Traditional hands, careful methods
Our work covers deep cleaning, stain removal, overnight soaking, blocking and stretching, and hand repairs such as Persian binding and fringe restoration.
Every rug is inspected and dye tested before it is washed. We use gentle, non-toxic solutions and dry slowly, so fibers, colors and foundations are preserved for years to come.
Pricing is explained before any work begins, and we keep you informed while your rug is with us.

Chester Leevia Google “EXCELLENT experience with The Local Carpet Cleaners. They were fantastic. Garan was my point person...he was extremely professional, so easy to work with, so knowledgeable. Garan really listened to my concerns. They did a beautiful job repairing the fringes on my antique rug, and they washed it too. The price was extremely reasonable. They picked up the rug, and returned it safely to me. Turn around time was about 6 days. I am extremely pleased with them. I have recommended them to friends, and I will definitely use them again in the future - highest recommendation!”
